Multiple Teams · Hillcrest Holds Off Homewood to Win 2015 Metro Title

After a back and forth game for three quarters Hillcrest took a 52-41 lead with 3:40 left in the game.  Homewood went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to four with 1:06 left.  Jarad Pruitt hit one free throw to put Hiillcrest ahead 53-48.  On the following possession Austin Patterson hit a three pointer to cut the lead to two.  Homewood stole the ball on the next possession and Malik Cook tied the game with 30 seconds left.  Hillcrest called timeout and set up a play for point guard Mike Davis and he was fouled while driving to the basket with with 6 seconds left.  Davis hit both free throws to put Hillcrest up by two and Homewood’s Malik Cook push the ball up the floor was fouled while driving to the basket with 1 second left.  Cook hit the 1st free throw and Coach Scott Suttle called timeout to ice Cook.  After the timeout Cook missed the second free throw and Cameron Smith rebounded the ball to insure the 55-54 win for Hillcrest.
