The Patriots varsity boys soccer team lost 2-1 to 6A rival Pelham Panthers on Tuesday night. On a rain soaked night, the Patriots came out firing, but missed several opportunities to score in the opening half. With under 5 minutes to play in the first half, the Patriots’ defense faltered and surrendered 2 goals. As the first half opened the Patriots scored on the first few minutes as Ryan Hepp put in a deflection off the goalkeeper from his own penalty try. The 2-1 score would stand for the rest if the game. Both Homewood and Pelham missed several opportunities to score. Homewood will have a chance to rebound in a game at John Carroll on Thursday.
