Patriots News · Pats lose to Thompson

At Spain Park, the #5 ranked Patriots (22-8) couldn’t hold on to a 4-0 lead and lost to Thompson 7-5.  Homewood struck first in the first with a 4 spot.  Josh Hall and Ben Teel started the top of the 1st with singles.  Hall then scored on a crazy fielder’s choice and botched run down.  Sam Dantone was hit with the bases loaded to drive in a run.  John Hale plated a run on a fielder’s choice groundout, and Jake Miller plated the 4th run on a 2 strike single.  The Pats gave one back in the bottom of the first, gave up 2 more in the bottom of the third when Thompson capitalized on a hit batter and a walk, and then the Warriors took advantage of 2 errors in the 4th to plate 4 runs to go up 7-5.   Ben Galloway took the loss on the mound going 3.1 innings giving up 7 runs, 3 earned on 6 hits with 2 bbs and 3 ks.  James Reeves worked two thirds of an inning, and then Meyer “Rocket” Wolnek threw 2 scoreless in the 5th and 6th.

Homewood hosts Ramsay on senior night tomorrow at 630.
