Multiple Teams · Indoor Track and Field Teams Keep #1 Rankings

With one regular season indoor meet left, both the girls’ and boys’ indoor track and field teams are ranked #1 in 6A.  The last regular season meet will be The Last Chance Invitational on January 31st and February 1st, and the AHSAA State Championships will be February 7th and 8th.  Last Wednesday both teams competed in a quality meet, the Hump Day Octameet, at the Birmingham CrossPlex.  The girls won the team title, and the boys were 3rd behind 7A schools Thompson and Hewitt-Trussville.  The highlights of the meet for Homewood were Crawford Hope (US #3 4:17.25) and Carson Bedics (US #7 4:19.35) running personal bests and earning top ten national rankings in the 1600m.  Hope’s time is an indoor school record as well.  Additionally, Walker Smith set an indoor school record in the Pole Vault with a personal best jump of 14-6.  Lainey Phelps (800m, 1600m), Alex Brooks (Pole Vault),  and Spenser Lamb (60m Hurdles) all finished 1st in their events.
