Tuesday’s game against John Carroll Catholic was a heartbreaker for Homewood HWD High School Patriots Softball Varsity, as they lost the lead late in a 4-3 defeat. The game was tied at three with John Carroll Catholic batting in the bottom of the fifth when Macey Ogle singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

John Carroll Catholic got things started in the first inning. Ogle singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Ogle was in the pitcher’s circle for John Carroll Catholic. She surrendered three runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out nine.

Zoe Couch was on the rubber for Homewood HWD High School Patriots Softball Varsity. She surrendered four runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out two and walking zero.

Homewood HWD High School Patriots Softball Varsity socked one home run on the day. Hunter Dunn had a homer in the fourth inning.

Homewood HWD High School Patriots Softball Varsity collected seven hits. Jakaria Byrd and Katherine Howell all collected multiple hits for Homewood HWD High School Patriots Softball VarsityByrd went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Homewood HWD High School Patriots Softball Varsity in hits.

Ogle led John Carroll Catholic with two hits in three at bats. John Carroll Catholic didn’t commit a single error in the field. Claire Boone had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
