At Shades Valley, the Patriots swept the Mounties with a 9-1 victory in game one and a 13-0 win in game two to advance to the round of 16 for the 8th consecutive year.
Will Heisler picked up his fifth win of the year in game one working 6 innings of 5 hit baseball while striking out 10. Homewood scored first in the first on an rbi sac fly by Taylor Patterson, scoring John Hall who walked to lead off the game. The Pats added 5 in the 2nd on a 2 run homer by Brian Condon, a bases loaded walk to Patterson, and a 2 out, 2 run single by Charlie Goode. Patterson closed out the scoring with a 2 run double in a 3 run 6th for the Pats.
In game two, Charlie Teel earned the victory on the mound in 4 scoreless innings of work. Hall drove in 3 runs on 2 hits in the nightcap. Patterson added 2 more hits and 3 rbis, and Owen Isenhower had a big run scoring triple in the 2nd as well.
Homewood travels to Hartselle next Friday for round 2 of the state playoffs.
