High School Football Media Day was held at the Gardendale Community Center today. Homewood Head Coach Ben Berguson, Senior Tripp Moss, and Senior John Yarbrough represented the team at the event. The newly formed Homewood Athletic Foundation presented grants for the upcoming school year this morning during a training session for athletic personnel. The foundation accepted grant proposals from varsity teams in May and received 10 applications. The following grants were awarded: Team Approved
The Athletic Department took advantage of the newly implemented Flexible Professional Development day for the school system. High school and middle school coaches underwent extensive training in the following areas: Drug Prevention, CPR & AED, AHSAA Student Eligibility, Public Communication, and 2014-2015 Procedures. #hwsports
Last night, the Alabama High School Athletic Directors and Coaches Association (AHSADCA) held the 2014 Coaches Award Banquet at the Montgomery Renaissance Hotel. The 18th Annual All-Star Event is expected to bring over 4000 athletes, coaches, and parents to Montgomery this week. Homewood will be represented by rising senior basketball player Malik Cook. Malik was selected by the AHSAA basketball committee to participate during the North – South basketball game held at Alabama State Acadome tonight at 8:00
