The Homewood Boys Varsity Soccer team defeated Clay-Chalkville 4-1 and will advance to the Final Four In Huntsville. The Patriots will face Fort Payne in the state semifinal game at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 10.
In the quarterfinal game, Connor Smith scored the Patriots’ lone first half goal. Hardy Smith had the assist. In the second half, Connor Smith added a second goal by penalty kick after Brooks Brannon was fouled inside the box. Clay-Chalkville scored on a free kick to bring the Cougars within one, but Homewood added two more goals from Jackson Wallace and Zach Marcum (assist by Bryan Arteaga).
